Open Playoff Thread

The masses have spoken (and by masses I mean my sister and Rob). This thread will remain at the top of the page for the rest of the playoffs as an open forum for anyone to comment on what they see during the games.

Celebrity breakup?

I'm haven't noticed any comments on the split up of Bob Cole and Harry Neale for the first round of the playoffs. Does anyone know why this happened? Not that I'm complaining - those two have had a monopoly too long.

While on the topic of hearing things (a la Kielbasa vs Kobasew), it takes me back to the 99-00 playoffs where Harry Neale called Wade Redden the "Russian defenceman for Ottawa". Granted, he may have said Rushing Defencemen for Ottawa, but as a Sens fan I feel that it my sworn duty to bash Neale at every turn... and maybe it is because of the likes of me that he isn't doing the Sens series.

While the Neale/Cole split has me wondering, I am far more shocked that Ali Hewitt is in 1st place in a pool of any kind. I'm thinking this is a sign she should take up snowfootball.

They really did mix things up with the announcing crew for the first round. I'm curious how it's going to play out considering in the second round there will only be two series involving Canadian teams (Ottawa is already through and will play Montreal if the Habs win. Out west if both the Flames and Oilers win then they'll play each other).

Will it go back to Bob and Harry doing the Sens vs. whoever series and Hughson and Millen doing the Western Canadian team(s)?

I guess we'll have to wait and see.

If memory serves, Ali was also winning Jeff's March Madness pool at one point this year.

Sounds to me like she's turning into a true Sports Insider.

I believe that Harry Neale made a similar comment this year when describing John-Michael Liles as a "young, Russian defenseman with a bright future." Sounds like Harry's had a few too many Smirnoffs...

It is all thanks to my new philosophy. Which is: don't pay any attention to sports the entire season long. Sadly, it did not work so well in the Candy Bar March Madness pool, where I came in somewhere around 525th out of 550. Sigh.

Go Ducks Go.

The Flames are not a good team....they're just not.

Everyone wants to see the battle of alberta..screw that.

If we see that, it means the flames have won aonther game...I hope the franchise folds.

go ducks!

go oilers!

What the foetseks going on around here when not a single person has anything to say about the crushing blow dealt to a great deal of people when the Sens were defated by stinky Buffalo?

Too bad interest in the Stanley Cup has dried up in the second round. The reason for no comment on Buffalo is who because who cares. Maybe the Sons are ready to declare a champion - seriously, who has any players left in the pool?

Thankfully Peter is working hard and has no interest in the Stanley Cup final, or about as much as I have had. Watched almost half the game tonight, twice what I'd watched for the first four games. What I wanted to draw attention to was the one-liners from the broadcast booth: "Look at the benches, the sweat you see is the cologne of champions." There was one more before that which I should have written down it was almost as unbelievable. Had to comment.
