The numbers game
I've crunched the numbers and once again the lack of creativity from most of the poolies is astounding. The most common matchup in the final? The two top seeds, San Jose and Boston. BORING.
Some of you did go out on a limb and kudos to the brave souls who took the likes of Carolina, Washington and New Jersey.
Here's a quick look at how the conference and Cup champions break down. I'll have more numerical analysis later.
Stanley Cup
Boston 28%
San Jose 26%
Pittsburgh 14%
Vancouver 11%
Calgary 7%
Detroit 5%
Philadelphia 4%
Carolina 2%
Washington 2%
New Jersey 2%
Eastern Conference
Boston 49%
Pittsburgh 25%
Washington 11%
New Jersey 7%
Philadelphia 5%
Carolina 4%
Western Conference
San Jose 46%
Vancouver 25%
Detroit 18%
Calgary 9%
Columbus 2%
Chicago 2%
No poolies were courageous enough to take either Montreal or New York to win the Prince of Wales Trophy. Out West, no one believes Anaheim or St. Louis will win the Clarence S. Campbell Bowl.
I guess that means we can expect a New York-Anaheim final.
